Top 5 Movies of 2013

Monday, December 30, 2013

It's time for another post of my "Monday Favorites!"

Today, I will share my top 5 favorite films of 2013!

5. The Wolf of Wallstreet

I reviewed this film yesterday! Martin Scorsese just can't seem to disappoint me!

4. 12 Years a Slave

This movie was in one word, breathtaking, both in how difficult it was to watch and in how beautifully it was filmed.

3. Out of the Furnace

I reviewed this as well! This film was a big surprise for me! I was not expecting much but as you can see it ended up being one of my favorites!

2. The Great Gatsby

My review explains why I loved this film! It was so brilliant and Leonardo was the perfect Gatsby!

1. The Place Beyond the Pines

This independent film told such an incredible story filled with dark  metaphors about life, family, and the police force. I highly recommend it! Check out my review as well!

Runner-ups:
- Gravity
- The Conjuring
- Monsters University

Remember these are only based off the movies that I have seen. There are some that I am sure would have made the list if I would have seen it (American Hustle to name one!!!).

What were your favorite films this year?

Lessons learned in 2013

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

This past year was filled with many lessons.

At the beginning of the year I ended a relationship. Though it was hard it was necessary; long distance relationships are incredibly difficult. It was however, one of the best relationships I've ever had because it showed me what it is like to be in a healthy and happy relationship.

Coming back from studying at Oxford University this summer, I learned many things about myself. I learned that I am meant to focus on global health, that I want work abroad, and that doing things just for me is the best way to be happy.

I learned some other things along the way and thought I would share them with you.

Top Beauty Products of 2013!

Monday, December 16, 2013

It's Monday again! Time for another "Monday Favorites." Today is my top five beauty products of 2013.

1. This hair mask is amazing! It leaves my hair very hydrated and shiny!

2.  Essie nail polishes are amazing! They don't chip easily and they tend to only need one coat to get the color in the bottle.

3. My signature look is just eyeliner and mascara and this eyeliner is so easy to apply! Though it is a little expensive, I think it is worth it! I've tried to find a drugstore brand that does the same work but I can't!

4. This eye makeup remover is made from corn starch so its easy on the eyes and doesn't sting. I have very sensitive skin and this product is very soothing.

5. Lastly, my all time favorite! MAC blush in gingerly! This color looks very natural and is matte so perfect for everyday!

Favorite TV Shows of 2013

Monday, December 9, 2013

It is Monday! And that means it is time for my "Monday Favorites!"
Today I will be sharing with you my Favorite TV shows of 2013!

5. Modern Family

I only just started watching this show this summer and I fell in love with all of the characters! It is a great comedy that deserves all of its awards!

4. House of Cards
House of Cards is a Netflix original series and let me just tell you, it is brilliant!! This show is such a smart, political drama, and Kevin Spacey's acting is incredible. I am so excited for the second season.

3. Sherlock
I started watching this show because I am big fan of Martin Freeman and I love all things British. OMG, now I am the biggest Sherlock Holmes fan! I watched both seasons in one sitting! (that's normal right?) I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this show is. The screenwriting, the cinematography, the acting! It is all just so amazing! And I also love Benedict Cumberbatch now. :)

2. The Office
In case I haven't said it before in any of my previous posts, The Office is my ALL TIME favorite show. Though the last season wasn't the best, the finale was everything I hoped it be. It was so sweet and perfect and brought me to tears. This show will always be me favorite :)

And lastly, the number one spot goes to....

1. Breaking Bad

I don't think I really have to say why this show is number one. Breaking Bad changed the history of television and I loved every single minute of it. It always left me on an emotional roller coaster. I loved how though Walter was turning into such a bad person, you were still rooting for him...it takes very creative writers to make a show like that. I also loved the finale! I think it ended exactly how it should have. Though when it ended, I was definitely in a TV slump (that's a real thing right?). I seriously didn't watch anything for about a month after it ended.

So there you go! Those are my top 5 TV shows of 2013!

What are yours?
